Underneath the first code snippet there’s this line:

These are also within <article> elements to give us some landmark goodness.

I didn’t think that article provides a landmark and sure enough, it’s not listed here. Andy probably had something else in mind when he wrote that and I’m trying to understand what I’m missing here.

Yeah I think that sentence is a mistake or at least misleading.

The terms “region” and “landmark” are often used synonymously.

<section> and <article> can be useful to contain blocks of content. They do not function as regions unless they are given an ARIA label, but this is rarely useful.
